Large contemporary still life (2002), representing chili peppers on a colored background. In the foreground, the giant peppers seem to spring out like living beings. They are placed on a clear support, in front of a background made up of fragments presenting different patterns. The material effects, the strong presence of the king and the different patterns give the whole a strong presence.
The work is signed lower right. It is countersigned and dated on the back
Condition: Work in very good condition, clean. Light touch-ups, invisible. Like many contemporary works, this one is offered without a frame, sufficient in itself.

The artist
Pierre Sgamma is a French artist born in 1961. He lives in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, near Avignon.
A retrospective of his works took place in this city in 2020. On this occasion, we could read: “The very personal universe of the artist, as strange as it is enigmatic, always takes us on a journey towards myth, legend , symbolism, metaphor and poetry; like an inner odyssey. It explores with originality and relevance our paradoxes, our need for opposites, our emotions, our fears, our flaws but also our resources. He confronts us with our strangeness to shake our general state of consciousness, our preconceived ideas, in order to lead us to free ourselves from possibilities.”
Pierre Sgamma began his artistic career as a painter. At the same time, he has been developing an activity as a sculptor for around twenty years.
Pierre Sgamma is represented in France by the Galerie Sylvie Le Page in Paris, and the Retour de Voyage space in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
