Object description :

"Pair Of Cast Steel Chairs - Carre Paris - 19th Century"
Pair of chairs from the Carré feu factories at 41 rue de la Grande Armée in Paris. Félix Carré created his factory in the 1850s. These seats were installed in the Luxembourg gardens, the Champs-Elysées and the Bois de Boulogne. The company takes advantage of novice poster designers like Cheret for its campaigns; and sell more and more to the bourgeoisie following the craze for gardens. Between 1870 and 1890, she turned mainly to large public orders following the war against Prussia. The chairs can be dated from 1850 to 1870 under the empire. One is in perfect condition, one has 2 loose slats to be re-welded, but still complete.
