Michel de Alvis Large original oil on canvas representing the mills of Montmartre. Michel de Alvis was born in Montmartre in 1933 where he grew up and frequented the artistic community of the time. His work is inspired by both nature and the cities visited during his travels, mainly around the Mediterranean. His incisive and generous painting is part of the post-war pictorial movements led by Claude Venard in particular, whose friend he was. He exhibited all over the world, in France, Spain, Japan, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Africa, Switzerland, from 1959 to 2015. Signed lower right Old label and annotations on the back.
