Rare and interesting Art Deco period vase, with a Cubist-inspired geometric design, made of brown smoked glass, blown in a mold and worked with a tool. The shape of this vase, its style, its lines, rather atypical and innovative, make it a particularly original object. These shapes are not common in Daum production, and in Art Deco glassware in general.
The model is really rare, original.
Handwritten signature engraved on the periphery of the base, on the bottom of the edge, "Daum Nancy France" with Cross of Lorraine (☨).
Note: the signature “Daum ☨ Nancy” is perfectly authentic (it is easily recognized). The mention "France" appears next to this signature, in slightly smaller characters and engraved a little less deeply. However, this is just a simple detail. The vase is well signed, and the signature is good. For more details, refer to the additional photos (n°2, 3).
Beautiful and rare production from the DAUM Brothers Manufacture in Nancy, circa 1930.
Pontil mark on the reverse of the base of the vase, carefully ground.
DIMENSIONS: - height of the vase, 13.20 CM; - diameter at the neck, at the top, of 15.30 CM; - diameter at the base, at the base, of 07.50 CM.
CONDITION REPORT: The vase is in very good condition. There are no accidents, no chips or missing, and no cracks. There are very, very light and fine scratches on the reverse of the base (shown in photo n°5), without any impact and which, otherwise, remain invisible when the vase is displayed. No impact, therefore. Additionally, the scratches in question are really very faint. Some very light rubbing, again illustrated in the photo (photos n°6, 7, 8 and 9) around the collar. This is slight wear from use, perfectly normal, which manifests itself in very fine breaks in the glass, but, again, really minimal, as evidenced by the photos. This is only noticeable up close, and then again. Possibility of detecting, here and there, other very slight wear from use (minimal scratches in the decor: photo n°7). It is nothing more or less than normal wear and tear on an old, second-hand item that has already been used in the past. - Some scratches in the decor: photo n°10; - collar detail: photo n°9. More generally, the elements that we report and illustrate here (very fine breaks in glass around the neck / discreet scratches in the decoration) constitute very slight wear, which, as we indicated, is only very noticeable. , very little. It is normal to find signs of use, however slight, on an old object. They are therefore only barely visible, and in no way alter this vase, which remains very beautiful, and in excellent state of conservation. There is therefore no shine or lack; no opacification of the glass, no stains; no shock...
