"Rare Suite Of 4 Louis XVI Armchairs Stamped Delaunay Original Point De Beauvais Tapestry"
This rare set of four armchairs stamped Delaunay in Louis XVI style and period is remarkable for its authenticity, in original Trianon gray lacquered wood and tapestry with petit point Beauvais silk threads attached to silk canvas, with a remarkable and fine execution with quiver flower motifs and rich flowered basket, flowered friezes and similarly padded armrests; the signed strusture under the seat is in beech lacquered with skin glue colored with ash powder as was the great fashion under the Reign of Maie Antoinette for the Petit Trianon. The well-crafted belt and the tapered, fluted legs connect to the armrest with beautiful movement, all ribbed and an elegant back with a beautiful oval, reinforced at the back with a vertical upright. These beautiful harmonious seats come from a prestigious Château and were shared between two Sisters reunited again for our greatest happiness; of course there is some wear and the blue colors of the covering fabric have become gray. A harmony is born from this aging and they have not lost their allure despite the patina of time and the wear of the beautiful embroidery which retains a proud appearance. These are exceptional, solid pieces that are not worm-eaten or damaged. A discerning decorator's eye will be able to tell the difference...
