Silk Carpet From Srinagar, Kashmir, 184 X 281 Cm, Hand-knotted Silk, Jammu And Kashmir, 1970

This silk cashmere in very good condition is of a respective size: 184 cm wide by 281 cm long.
The quality of these beautiful old natural silks no longer needs to be demonstrated.
We can only admire the work and the abundance of patterns, stylized field flowers, arabesques, niches covering this carpet and its borders.
The field is covered with 25 rectangles inscribed with niches, cypresses, trees of life and bouquets of flowers.
The border consists of 36 equally skillfully decorated squares.
The very soft colors are composed of an almost wine red, almond green, pale yellow, pale blue, ocher, buff, ivory and black causing contrasts while separating the patterns.
The thickness of this carpet is 5 mm, which makes it a flexible piece but whose hold on the ground is stiffened by the density of the knots.
This natural silk rug on fine cotton, hand-knotted around 1970, is in superb condition.
The region of Srinagar in Kashmir is where these marvels are produced and produced, silks on silk or silks on cotton.
