Very Beautiful 18th Century Gold Chiming Watch From Frères Faizan in Geneva, Circa 1780. No 9158Enamel dial, with Arabic numerals, gold pear-shaped hands.
Movement in gilded brass, with verge escapement, chain, fusee, hour and quarter strike on gong. Ingenious system, allowing you to deactivate the bell, and have a knock-on bell for more discretion.
Gold case, plain, with a bell fixed in the case back.
The ringing on bells is the oldest, the bell was replaced at the end of the 18th century by gongs fixed on the movement.
