Atelier Mêne – Cain (1879 – 1908)
The Valet de limier represents a hunter in French costume. The dog is marked "S", perhaps in reference to the Servant rally, active between 1852 and 1894 and well known for the qualities of its pack. The wax model was presented to the public at the Salon of 1879, a few days before the artist's death.
