Casimir settled in Port aux princes at the end of the 1940s and was presented to the Art Center in 1947 by his friend, the painter Dieudonné Cédor. From 1950 to 1956, he attended the Foyer des arts Plastiques, founded by a group of modern intellectuals and artists, including Cédor. Casimir was one of the instigators of a Haitian archetype, market painting, which he painted using various tones of red, orange and yellow
