Object description :

"Achille Bron (1867-1949) Mist On The Pond ~1940. Charentaise School, Crozant, Madeline Limousin"
Very pretty oil/canvas by Achille Bron representing an effect of mist on a pond or arm of a river around 1940, signed with the monogram lower left. Format of the canvas alone without frame 27x35cm. It is therefore a beautiful post-impressionist composition by Achille Bron who paints here a mist effect in a bluish atmosphere on a pond or river arm, perhaps in Limousin or Charente, around 1935/1945 . As usual, Bron uses an impressionist touch and a very subtle palette where he mixes here soft blues, grays and greens enhanced by orange and purple effects, pure Achille Bron in the tradition of his friend and master Paul Madeline. The place can be located between Charente and Limousin, surely the 2 regions that he painted the most, even if as a professional painter he will plant his easel in many other regions such as Provence, Brittany, Dordogne, Vendée , Corsica, or Collioure, etc.... Achille Bron was born in Crazannes in Charente and he began his studies in Saintes then in Angoulême; then he went to Paris, entered medical school and attended the Moulin Rouge where he admired Toulouse Lautrec. In 1894 he established himself as a doctor in Taillebourg in Charente Inférieure, now Charente Maritime, a profession that he shared with painting since he also exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants et des Artistes Français. In 1912 the Petit Journal cited his works among celebrities such as Laurencin, Metzinger, Picabia, Rassetti etc...Bron also exhibited regularly in the Province. He therefore meets Paul Madeline who will give him a few lessons but above all will become his best friend, as evidenced by the numerous works of Madeline or Bron that they have dedicated to themselves or to their respective wives, they very often paint on the same motifs. However, we know that Bron will come very regularly to Haute Vienne, in particular to paint the banks of Vienne or Briance, but we do not have proof that he will follow Madeline to Creuse. On the other hand, Bron will partly adopt Madeline's technique and palette, to the point that their works will sometimes be extremely close. Today his works are quite rare and rather sought after by amateurs, as proof of this last canvas sold a few days ago in Limoges, representing the Platin beach in Saint-Palais sur mer sold for more than €2,500 including fees. This canvas is in good condition, I just point out a slight defect towards the middle and a small lack at the top to the left which I will try to have repaired by a professional; otherwise delivered in a superb modern gilt carved frame; or sold without frame for 490€ of your choice. Guaranteed authentic work
