Height: 38 cm very good condition! Clément Massier (1845-1917) Great-grandson of Pierre Massier who settled the family in Vallauris on the Côte d'Azur around a pottery workshop, Clément Massier will be the leader of Art Nouveau ceramics in the South of the France. His rich ceramic production will influence many artists, in France and internationally. In 1887, Clément Massier hired the French symbolist painter Lucien Levy-Dhurmer as artistic director. It was he who introduced Massier to the iridescent cutlery of Hispano-Moorish and Alhambresque-style ceramics, which he collected. Two years later, in 1889, they presented a series of four-handed ceramics at the Universal Exhibition, whose decorations with rich metallic reflections earned them a gold medal.
