Lithograph By Valerio Adami Born 1935 Framed Numbered Signed Dimensions Out of Frame 65x50 Cm circa 1960s 1970s Valerio Adami is an Italian painter and engraver born March 17, 1935 in Bologna famous for his paintings made up of flat areas of pure and tangy colors surrounded by a thick black line recalling the spirit of comic book drawings. He divides his life between France and Italy. From 1952 to 1954, he studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. During his first trip to Paris in 1955, he met Roberto Matta. During his first solo exhibition in Milan in 1957, we noticed that his works were strongly inspired by Matta's surrealism. At the end of the 1960s, Adami established himself as one of the representatives of the New Figuration movement. He developed and subsequently definitively established his formal system: his characters and objects are made up of clear, colorful shapes surrounded by a thick line. After his installation in Paris in 1970, the Museum of Modern Art dedicated an exhibition to him. The Georges Pompidou center will do the same in 1985, followed by the Grand Palais in 2008.
