India, early 20th century, very beautiful Shiva Lingam stone in an oval shape, perfectly polished, in shades of red brown. The lingam is considered to be the purest incarnation of Shiva. It is the most important symbol of this deity. Its ovoid shape is obtained by constant polishing in the waters of the bed of the sacred Narmanda river in Western India. The Shiva Lingam is also considered a symbol of fertility. The shape of the stone symbolizes masculine energy. Good condition except for slight normal wear and tear. The base made at the request of the previous owner divinely highlights the beauty of this piece with pure lines. Height 17.5 cm (28 cm with base).
