Box Around 1750, Silver, Vermeil & Agate, Abolition Of Slavery flag

Object description :

"Box Around 1750, Silver, Vermeil & Agate, Abolition Of Slavery"
Pretty box in solid silver and polished agate around 1750, probably English.

It carries a later engraving of important anecdotal importance on the background.

There are an arm brandishing slave chains and the Latin text ´ primus e stirpe ´, ´first of your lineage ´ or ´ first of your race.

Combined with the empty chains, we could assume that it is a gift to a liberated slave, the first of his lineage to be able to enjoy his status as a free citizen.

Above is engraved 'gift from a friend'
