"Provençal "sauteuse" Chest Of Drawers, In Walnut, Louis XV Period"
Walnut chest of drawers from the Louis XV period. Sauté model, with two drawers on high legs. Trapezoidal in shape, with curved sides and sinuous facade, perforated crossbar. The crosspieces are scrolled and molded; on the facade carved with a shell, foliage and flowers. It rests on four arched, molded legs, ending in high doe shoes. Beautiful period rocaille bronzes, period locks. Chest of drawers with a marble top, in this case a thick and superb Provençal marble, with corbin beak. Trets marble (Bouche du Rhône) between Montagne Sainte Victoire and Saint Maximin. Quarries exploited since the 17th century; marble used at the Grand Trianon. (small old restoration) Provençal work from the mid-18th century, of good quality, in exceptional condition (no grafting on the drawers and feet)
