Object description :

"Black Powder Mole Hunting. Trap. Object Of Curiosity."
I offer you one of the jewels of French gunsmithing genius: the mole pistol. This is a percussion fire trap intended for the elimination of moles. The trap is triggered when the animal pushes upwards the paddle located in front of the mouth of the barrel. The hammer is held cocked by a metal piece blocked between the hammer and the pallet mechanism (in the photos the gun is shown cocked, but with the safety pin) The barrel was muzzle loaded with one or two grams of black powder, a ball and voila, the explosion was enough to kill the mole at point blank range. The trap was set up in the mole galleries. The model presented is made of solid brass, perfectly functional, with its safety pin and cocking wedge. 20th century around 1920/1930. Length 22 cm.
