"Antique Ring, Garnet-glass Doublet And Pearls"
Antique ring in 750/1000 yellow gold, centered with a garnet-glass doublet imitation of sapphire and 2 small pearls which support it. The whole thing is mounted in a beaded bezel setting.French work, early 20th century.
Expert Note: The garnet-glass doublet is also called "DGV" in french. It's a gem assembled by gluing a thin layer of garnet onto a colored glass base. DGVs have become rare and impossible to find because they have not been manufactured for several decades, replaced by other imitations that are less expensive to produce.
