"Devotion Necklace To The Trefoil Cross Of Saint Maurice"
Interesting devotional necklace dedicated to the martyr Saint Maurice, 19th century period, perhaps older. Made with multiple faceted glass beads in an iridescent brown-mauve color and connected together by metal rings. Added to this are other works of green cylindrical beads surrounded by metal bobbins, sometimes forming a spring, then other red spherical beads, etc. A motif in the shape of a lanceolate leaf made of pearls and metallic threads in the center and in the lower part a trefoiled cross of Saint Maurice in an oval medallion under glass decorated with radiating strands of pearls and metallic threads. The cross cut out of white paper is also found on the obverse of the medallion. Another medallion under glass in which signs are written that I could not decipher. The trefoiled cross is associated with Maurice d'Agaune, martyr and leader of the legendary Theban legion. His relics are located at Saint-Maurice Abbey, located in Saint-Maurice in the canton of Valais in Switzerland and are the subject of worship. It is also found in several coats of arms of municipalities in the regions having been under the influence of the Saint-Maurice Abbey and having belonged to the States of Savoy: Savoie, Bresse, Valais, county of Nice. Length of the pendants excluding the neck circumference: 16 cm Note: a fairly rare object. Delivery: €10 for mainland France
