"Pair Of Black Photo Frames In Hardened Wood With Original Convex Glasses, Napoleon III Period "
Like architectural sitting dog pediments, these two business card sized frames are decorated with Louis XVI details and have their original convex glasses as well as their rear feet, they can also be hung using their rings on the back. Made in workshops in Sézanne from ebony sawdust, hence their sometimes called "Ebonite" but the real name of this technique is "Hardwood", it is sometimes marked in relief on certain pieces. Concretely, these hardened wooden items, very often frames, were created under very high pressure in molds which all disappeared when the factory burned down at the beginning of the 20th century.
