The carved, openwork and grooved base is a reminder of the fashion for "chinoiseries" and "chinoise" furniture in Vogue in France and in Europe during the second part of the 18th century...This desk of which 3 copies have been put up for public sale over the last 20 years (1 copy stamped CANABAS and two others attributed to Canabas) is also attributed to Canabas
