The Encounter. Canvas By François Victor Batigne. (1881-1954).

Pretty canvas painted around 1930, representing a meeting between a rider and a woman sitting in the shade of a tree. The canvas is painted in a well stylized manner, typical of this period. No restoration has been made, perfect condition. At the bottom right, the signature of the Marseille painter François Victor Batigne born in 1881 and died in 1954. Referenced in the Bénézit dictionary of painters, and appearing in an art and industry museum. He exhibited at the Autumn Salon from 1907 to 1909. It is presented with a small natural wood strip, surrounding the edge of the frame. Dimensions of the canvas alone, 40 cm x 32 cm. With the wand, standard size of 41 cm x 33 cm, i.e. a 6 Figure.
