"Small Box Said From Baggard, 17th Century."
Pin plaque box known as Baggard in 18th century cherry wood. This box corresponds in every respect to the standard of Baggard production in Eastern France. The scrolled shape, the scrolls and the birds are sculpted on a sandblasted background and it has a monoxyl cover. This more rustic production was intended for ladies for toiletries, thus replacing the ostentatious silverware which was cast in order to compensate for the expenses of the wars of Louis XIV... This production did not last very long and these objects are rare, and we will forgive the small defects of this one... modern hinges, the dominotier paper perhaps later, small gaps on the frieze of the cushion, the absence of a foot but the box itself has not undergone any restoration.
