Jean Communal was born in Chambéry in 1911. Son of the painter Joseph Communal, he was introduced to art at a very young age. After completing his studies in Chambéry, Jean Communal left for the capital and took courses at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Living in Paris until 1977, he taught drawing in Parisian high schools while practicing his art. He painted Savoy, but also Italy, Spain...
