Magnificent hand-knotted Na'in gallery in Kork wool and silk blend, Iran, circa 1970 in very good condition, measuring 93 cm wide by 400 cm long. The Na'in are considered to be the finest knotted carpets in current carpet art, their place of creation, east of Isfahan, made them considered among the Khorasan types while representing a group apart.
They are tightly knotted, very dense and are therefore very resistant.
The ornamentation of these wonderful carpets used delicate medallion arabesques with sometimes vases as added elements or wonderful and ingenious arabesque compositions with flowers and boteh motifs full of elk.
The Na'in closely resembles the Isfahan stylistically, in the balance of colors and the delicate articulation of the designs, apart from the colors used. The commonly used shades are blues and blacks placed on cream or ivory backgrounds (our model) sometimes combining straw yellow but also more rarely deep red or even dark wine red.
Very deep red that we find in small touches on our carpet.
Thin ground knotting usually uses silk, fine kork wool and cotton in densities between 500,000 and 900,000 knots per M2. Our model does not deviate from these rules and offers us a magnificent quality piece.
Three large quadrilobed medallions accompanied by botehs and a border very present in decoration in the Persian style and taste.
The blues usually used are found on the domes of mosques in ancient Persia and Central Asia.
## Kork wool is the softest wool taken from under the neck and belly of lambs when they are first sheared, making rugs soft to the touch.
