Odoardo Borrani was born in Pisa in 1832.
One of the founders of the Macchiaiolo movement, he drew from life in the countryside around Florence with Telemaco Signorini and Vincenzo Cabianca.
In 1855 he was then part of the group of Macchiaioli painters gathered at the Caffè Michelangelo in Florence.
Odoardo Borrani died in 1905 alone in the dignified misery of a small house in Pian de Giullari, a few months after the death of his companion.
