"Large Reliquary Of Saint Germier With The Child In Relic Paste – 18th Century"
A congregational work from the end of the 18th century, in a montage of paper rolls which frames a large paste plaque of molded and then painted relics, with the effigy of the Child. He is represented here as Salvator Mundi, that is to say crowned, carrying scepter and cruciferous orb which symbolizes the temporal and spiritual domination of Christ. Relic paste is a mixture of plaster, glue and relic dust. A label in the upper left corner DPSM, an acronym meaning “Of Several Saints Martyrs”, attests to their presence.
Saint Germier, bishop, is also present by a clearly visible ex-ossibus relic. He was bishop of Toulouse in the 6th century.
