The plate that we are presenting to you is extremely rare on the market, it bears the red mark with a lowercase “n” crowned on the cover, dating back to 1790. The decoration representing “the death of King Priam by Pyrrhus the son of 'Achilles at the Palace of Troy', inspired by the Aeneid with annotations of the title and the mention 'by el Cav. Domenico Venuti. The quality of the scene is exceptional in its details and its execution and its colors, the horse in the background, the statue of Zeus, all this reference to the Trojan War. ** Inscription on the outline of the decoration: "Pirro fiolio d'Achille che uccide Priamo nei cortili de la regia di troia" descritto da virgilio nei secondo dell'Aeneide, inventato e dipinto in olio dal cav Venuti. ** Translation: “Pyrrhus son of Achilles who kills Priam in the courtyards of the Royal Palace of Troy”: described by Virgil in the second part of the Aeneid, interpreted and painted in oil by the Knight Venuti” ** Domenico Venuti (Italian, 1742–1814).
