"Walnut Bas-relief, Dormition Of The Virgin, Flanders Late 16th Early 17th Century."

Walnut bas-relief representing the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. The iconographic representation of the Dormition, of Byzantine origin, is proposed here with the funerary bed of the Virgin placed in the middle, with the falling cover, around which the figures of the apostles are arranged. At the base of the bed, a stool with an urn containing the holy ointment.
Support base covered in green velvet.
Flanders late 16th early 17th century.
