Large miniature painted in oil on ivory signed and dated in the work lower right "John Marras/1862. According to the painting Psyche and Love, also known as Psyche Receiving the Kisses of Love, from François Gérard (1770-1837), preserved in the Louvre, John Marras is known as a French portrait painter and miniaturist. He worked in New York during the first decade of the 19th century, and notably worked as the official painter of the Sultan of Constantinople. framed, 19th century gilded frame with keys in wood and stucco, some gaps not disturbing the overall look.
