Jean-Baptiste Cresson (1720-1781):

Carpenter, received Maitre in 1741.

Born in 1720, died in 1781. Son of Charles Cresson and brother of his namesake, Jean-Baptiste.

In 1740, he formed a partnership with his mother, Marie-Adrienne Vafflard, to manage his deceased father's business on rue de Cléry. The partnership lasted eight years. Jean-Baptiste likely took charge of the workshop and the widow of the accounting.

In 1741, he became a master carpenter and married Marguerite Decomble.

Around 1750, he set out on his own, acquiring the house at Saint-Charles, of which he was a tenant, plus another next door at Chef Saint-Paul.

He had to retire from the business around 1765 to live on his income: in 1777, he settled permanently on rue Poissonnière.

We know nothing about his customer base, but he was very active, notably in collaboration with his cousins René, Michel, and Louis Cresson.
