"Chev-drawing Orig-entourage Of Charles De La Fosse-french School-louis XIV-17c"
ENTOURAGE OF CHARLES DE LA FOSSE (1636-1716) FEATHER DRAWING AND BROWN AND BLOOD INK WASH Late 17th century French school, Louis XIV period 39 cm 'a private mansion with a trompe-l'oeil perspective. Corner project, Florentine vases, with seven puttis tying garlands around a circle in the center of the ceiling, the latter carried at arm's length by another putto. Greco-Roman colonnades support this entire architectural ensemble. The latter represents a gallery with a trompe l'oeil sky. But in an unusual way, the puttis instead of being located in the space of the sky, are drawn below the colonnade, much closer to the viewer, the illusion effect is all the more pronounced. In the way of treating the details, we will note in our drawing, the particularly fine and precise line, such as the wings and the hair of the puttis. These characteristics would allow us to place this drawing around 1700 and as part of the earliest works of Charles de la Fosse. A drawing comparable to ours was cited in the Ney-yorkaise exhibition catalog “Old Master Drawings Galerie Brady & Co” in 1999. SOLD WITH ITS CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
