"Landscape With The Pond And The Romantic Woman On A Boat Under The Foliage Signed E. Renault"
Edmond Renault, landscape painter born in Paris on October 23, 1824, died in 1905, is from the French School. Student of Flers and the great Corot then of Théodore Rousseau. Edmond Renault is quite close to the latter in the quiet villages, his landscapes of water with calm horizons in his ability to transpose with a light beam the fleeting lighting of twilight hours. He has exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants since 1857, the banks of the Seine and views of the Normandy countryside. Gérard Schurr and E. Bénézit. To speak of this accomplished work where we find for the trees the great influence of his master Corot where the foliage and the leaves playing with the sky the paste of his mentor. This calm lake on an afternoon of a misty and waning sky, the contrast of nature with in the distance architecture with a large chimney and this water of the pond reflecting the yellowish sky where an improbable woman sitting on a boat lets herself drift. A beautiful composition from the mid-19th century, Impressionist and a little symbolist in the light and the subject. In short, a beautiful, accomplished and wonderfully Romantic painting, well framed and healthy canvas on a quality keyed frame. A beautiful decorative piece of good size
