Object description :

"Rare Ghoum Silk Carpet From The Shah Period, Iran, Circa 1970"
Ghoum silk carpet, dating from the time of the Shah in Iran, circa 1970. This carpet is distinguished by its exceptional fineness. It is in excellent general condition, with a refined motif: an ivory field decorated with branches of fine stems of lily flowers, buds, palmettes, birds and stylized animals. Its crenellated old pink central medallion is surrounded by a beige rosette, animated by a landscape with a couple of deer. The balance is perfect, with two oil lamps stylized in symmetry and four spandrels decorated with jars of flowers framed by dracs, fantastic animals. Eleven borders, including the main lilac one, harmoniously recall the central motif. An exceptional rug, both fine and original, signed by Ghoum himself.
