"Beautiful Country Oil Signed Adriaen Van De Velde. Dutch School. Channel Frame. 17th Century "
Pleasant bucolic scene, “livestock in a rural setting” by Adriaen van de Velde. This beautiful oil offers a very beautiful rendering of colors: the ochres and blues catch the eye admirably... The 17th century and 19th century channel frame looks wonderful. Nice dimensions for this charming scene by one of the masters of Dutch landscape painting. Adriaen van de Velde comes from an important family of Dutch painters. He is the son of the designer Willem van de Velde the Elder and the brother of de Willem...(the younger). He was born around 1636. He first studied with his father, but faced with his lack of inclination to become a marine painter like him, he left for Haarlem, the epicenter of Dutch pastoral fashion, then he completed his training with by landscaper Jan Wijntans. He is close to Paullus Potter. His first known paintings date from 1653. Returning to his hometown, he became an independent artist around the age of 20. At the age of 21, he married Maria Oudekerk there on April 5, 1657. In addition to his own works, Van de Velde also works with many other landscape painters. He notably draws characters and animals in the works of van der Hyeden. He died in 1672, very young, and his funeral took place on January 21 at the Nieuwe kerk.
