"Old Singular Naturalist Dish, School Of Tours, In The Style Of Bernard Palissy Or Avisseau"
Beautiful dish, very unique in its decoration which represents a village scene in a clearing, on a body of water in the foreground a character moves on a boat in the middle of a decor of trees, vegetation against a background of blue sky and cloudy.Length: 41.5 cm / Width: 26 cm / Height: 8.5 cm / Weight: 1,890 g
Certainly a work by an artist from the Ecole de Tours whom I did not take the time to try to identify. It presents the characteristic style of dishes from this school of Tours, in the taste of Bernard Palissy. Under the petal of the large flower on the left is a signature monogram; FM I think (see photo).
The object is in very acceptable condition, especially considering the ease of restoration of this type of ceramic which presents these slip-colored decorations. It should be noted two cracks, on either side at both ends of the wing, and small chips and gaps here and there but nothing prohibitive which could prevent an easy and invisible restoration of the object.
On this subject, in red on one of the photos, I have indicated with arrows and hoops all the imperfections and accidents that this dish presents so that you can get a precise idea of its condition.
