He was a student of Jules Lefebvre and Gustave Boulanger at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. He was a member of the French Artists from 1885. In 1885, he won the second Grand Prix de Rome. In 1887, he married Marie Madeleine Baschet ( 1868-1939, the couple lived in Paris. A 3rd class medal was awarded to him in 1892, a second class medal in 1893, and a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1906 He died at his home on December 8, 1940. Paul Thomas is a painter of genre scenes, landscapes, interiors. These paintings are fresh, luminous with a beautiful staging and a great sense of detail.
