"Jean Chevalier (saint-pierre-de-chandieu, 1913 - Lyon, 2002) - Writing Movement"
Chevalier exhibited at the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in 1947 a rhythmic abstract canvas reminiscent of the work of his friend Albert Gleizes (1881, Paris - 1953, Avignon) or Delaunay. He was a member of the group Testimony. Formed in Lyon around the poet, critic and gallery owner Marcel Michaud (1898-1958), the Témoignage group brings together artists with a surrealist tendency, strongly marked by esotericism: painters (J. Bertholle, J. Le Moal), sculptors (Etienne-Martin, F. Stahly), but also poets or musicians. Created during the Popular Front in 1936, Témoignage exhibited in Lyon, then in Paris. The exhibitions are accompanied by a magazine, The Weight of the World, a sort of manifesto which addresses various subjects such as dance, theater, music, painting, sculpture and even poetry. The group broke up in 1940.Work dating from 1973/74.
