Frank Will (1900 - 1951), Quai De Seine, Watercolor

Artist: Frank Will
Watercolor on paper by artist Frank Will. The work is in very good condition and is signed at the bottom right of the painting. An emblematic bridge of Paris is there bordered by moored boats. The painter, draftsman and watercolorist Frank Will was born in Nanterre in 1900.

Son of the American painter Frank Boggs, Frank Will initially signed Franque, William Frank, or only Frank; in 1919, he definitively adopted his pseudonym. From 1916, he devoted himself more specifically to watercolors, which constituted the best of his work. At this time he met Gen Paul and Leprin, who would become his friends. Frank Will quickly became a familiar figure in the Butte Montmartre. Although Montmartre and Paris were his favorite subjects, he also painted seascapes, boats and galleons. The artist remains the witness, sometimes the actor, of a bohemianism that has now disappeared. His production was abundant for a fairly short career, since Frank Will died at the age of 50.
