"Sappers. Extremely Rare Tool For Undermining Walls. Solid Wrought Iron Around 17th/18th Century"
Sapper's tool intended to dig and undermine a wall to make it collapse. Made up of a flat part on one side in the shape of a shield and the other side reinforced by a median edge, all very thick and very heavy, one side with an appendage for hooking the stones. A strong ridged rod was attached to a large wooden handle, the tool was used by probably 2 sappers given its weight. Very rare, comes from a 16th century castle Approximately 4kgs
