Wrought iron, gilded à la feuille d'or, eglomerate glass, painted steel top.
France.

h. 88 cm ; L. 120 cm ; d. 32 cm.
Possibly a work by the French Maison Jansen, this wrought-iron console is covered with a painted steel top and decorated with an eglomized glass mascaron. Some details are gilded à la feuille d'or, in particular the tail and tip of the four crossed arrows, evoking the serious and martial style of the Directoire and Empire periods, which greatly inspired the great French decorators of the 20th century until the beginning of the 1960s.
