Pierre Roux, an artist from Niort, studied at the Arts Décoratifs in Paris, before working in Auguste Hervé's studio. He also studied anatomy at the Faculty of Medicine in Paris, where he would later direct the moulding workshops. A sculptor by trade, he carried out commissions for his home town, notably the statue of Sainte Macrine for the chapel in Magné.

Also a painter, Pierre Roux's world is one of touching simplicity. Scenes of everyday life are sublimated by the gentleness of happy days.
