Baroque statue in carved and polychromed lime wood, with a partially flattened back, most likely representing not Mary Immaculate but the Lady in Blue in her gray Franciscan habit and blue cloak. Better known as Venetable Mary of Agreda. Also known as Mary Jesus of Agreba.
Praying at her base of his clouds, one hand raised to the sky. Known and loved mystic and nun who lived from 1602 to 1665 in Spain in Agreda where her still completely intact body resides to this day.
She was a very pious nun and writer, known for her rare ability to bilocate. A controversial woman in her time, but ultimately believed and glorified by the Church for these extraordinary miracles and work in New Mexico.
Two holes are visible in her coat on the back and a small hole at the back of her head.
A very small part of the little finger of the right hand hasn't survived. Wear to the polychrome.
