"Art Deco Silver Brooch Duette System, France, Circa 1920-1930"
The ingenious design of the pin. It separates from its base into two lapel clips. Crafted in silver and set with a shimmering array of round and baguette rhinestones with nine round synthetic rubies on each side with a striking cherry pink hue (fluorescent under UV light).
Duette brooches were introduced by Cartier in 1927 and were designed to be a versatile piece that could be worn as a brooch or two matching clips. Clips were at the height of their popularity in the 1920s and were commonly worn at the collar of a dress or blouse, but could also be added to cuffs, lapels, hats or handbags.
This is a beautiful geometric design that is typically Art Déco style and fitted with a plunger safety clasp.
The rhinestones are set and not glued, the synthetic rubies are prong set.
Solid silver.
