Dimensions: 15/21 cm With frame: 28/34cm Léon Hamonet 1877-1953 Second child of Henri Hamonet, sea captain, and Elisabeth Nabucet, daughter of farmers, he spent his youth at the Ville-Bourse in Erquy. After primary school, he attended the Cordeliers college in Dinan, like his older brother Henri. The family left for Bordeaux following the father's transfer and settled in 1889 and continued his studies with the brothers of the Christian doctrine at the Collège Saint-Genès in Bordeaux. After very encouraging studies at the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts, with the painter Alfred Smith. Léon Hamonet settled permanently in Erquy in the early 1910s, after marrying Anna L'Hévéder, daughter of a notary from Ploumilliau, on July 3, 1910. From their union two children were born: Henry and Suzanne. Léon Hamonet spends most of his time on the moors and shores, painting numerous sea and land landscapes of the Emerald Coast.
