Senior officer's saber from the Directoire - Consulate - Empire period with silvered brass mount, 18th - 19th century. Silver-plated brass frame with vertically grooved and striated ebony handle. Crooked cap with leonine face and short tail with floral decoration. Joining arc in column and right angle at the cruise. Cruise with long oval lugs and quillon curved towards the blade ending in a button. Slightly curved blade (3 cm arrow) bearing engravings of scrolls and trophies on two thirds of the blade. Marking at the base of the blade width: “IRON CUTTER”. Blade signed on the back of the blade "WESTER & CO SOLINGEN" and then bearing a leaf garland. Single-edged blade and counter-edged point of 18 cm and dorsal gutter on both sides. Black leather scabbard unstitched over part of its length and with 2 fittings: silver-plated brass cap and button. Length with sheath: 91 cm Length without sheath: 90 cm Length of the blade: 76 cm Width of the blade at the heel: 2.8 cm Length of the counter edge: 18 cm.
