Very good condition

The town of Hanau near Frankfurt at this time produced numerous silver objects in the style of the 18th century, the Renaissance or the Middle Ages. This dish is part of a production of the same order. Caspar ENDERLEIN settled in NUREMBERG around 1584 and specialized in engraving molds around 1610. He was largely inspired by François BRIOT, from whom he adopted or interpreted certain models. This silver edition was probably cast from the mold known as “La Tempérance” as evidenced by the countermark noted and described above. This model was published in pewter by François BRIOT in Montbéliard and then by Caspar ENDERLEIN installed in Nuremberg around 1584 and who was largely inspired by his colleague, whose central medallion presented “Temperance” surrounded by cartridges representing the captioned “Four Elements”. in Latin: AER, AQVA, TERRA and IGNIS. The wing was decorated with eight cartridges depicting MINERVA and the allegories of the Liberal Arts cited above. The time the mold was created by François Briot can be placed around 1585.
One of the photos loaded with yellow arrows indicates the peripheral hammering zone whose facets can be seen.
The last photo shows a period pewter example melted by François Briot which Caspar Enderlein took over a few years later, making a few detailed modifications.
