Edgardo Simone (Brindisi, 2 June 1890 – Hollywood, 19 December 1948) was an Italian sculptor and set designer.
Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, after having created numerous civil monuments in various Italian cities, in 1927 he emigrated to the USA where he married the musician Radie Britain and settled in California. He was a prolific artist and highly appreciated especially for his portraits. The last years he worked for the Metro Goldwyn Mayer film studios. His monuments dedicated to the fallen of the war are preserved in: Ferrara (unbuilt)[1] and in his province in Marrara and San Bartolomeo in Bosco, Monopoli, Brindisi, Sarno, Verona (Monument to the Alpini), Pianura, Avezzano, Maiori, San Bartolomeo in Bosco, Cerreto Sannita, Marrara, San Marzano sul Sarno, Minori, San Pietro a Maiella, Viggiano, San Vito dei Normanni, Tampa (Florida). Among others, he created the Monument to the Sacred Heart in Naples, the Statue of Saint Francis of Assisi in Nocera Superiore, the Statue of the Madonna in the Cathedral of Verona. He also created the funerary chapels of the family of the Balsamo counts in Brindisi, the Cattino family in Turin, the Cascio family in Naples, a posthumous portrait in duplicate of the duchy Galeazzo "Pimpi" Massari for the family tomb in the Certosa di Ferrara[ and others in Caracas (Venezuela) and San Paulo (Brazil).
