Charming round bowl with lobed edge from earthenware with polychrome decoration (small fire) in red, yellow, green, blue and manganese, on centre of four Chinese characters on terraces on four levels, accessible by ladders: A mother and her child, angler, kite in flight, bamboo tree house, and 3 large trendy parrots to keep an eye on it all.This decoration is due to the success of the decorative publications of "Chinese Games", engraved by Martin de Monchy, Paris, 1770, and especially of the Cahier de Balançoires Chinoises, by Jean-Baptiste Pillement,
Pretty piece of form. Good condition, no flaws; slight wear on edges, light stains and kiln dust on glaze.
The compote rings like a bell.
