Yvonne Canu (1921-2008) “The Port of Saint-Tropez” Oil on canvas. Around the 1970s Yvonne CANU, a renowned French painter, studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris, but the Second World War forced her to stop. After the war, she frequented Montmartre circles and met artists such as Foujita and Maclet. It was Foujita who introduced him to the Impressionists. Subsequently, she became interested in cubism and studied with Zadkine. Influenced by the artistic movements of the time, she admired Georges Seurat's masterpiece, "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" and decided to adopt the pointillism technique. This artistic style is characterized by the application of small touches of distinct colors that blend optically in the viewer's eye to form an image. His works, often serene landscapes, seascapes and urban scenes, are distinguished by a vibrant color palette and meticulous attention to detail.
