Large plaster bust, representing Homer, Greek philosopher, after an original in Greek marble created around 150 BC which was discovered in a wall of the Caetani Palace, in Rome (Italy) and now in the collections of the Museum of Louvre. This portrait is an imaginary representation of the Greek poet Homer, who would have lived around 700 BC. From a revolutionary seizure at the Capitoline Museum in Rome, 1798, (former Albani collection), it was donated by Pope Pius VII to King Louis XVIII in 1815 and has since remained definitively in French collections. Very decorative, of good quality, in good condition, from the late 19th century. Dimensions: H 66 x W 30 x D 26 cm
